I have said it! Officially, I pronounce marriage a very serious business meant for only the strong. Chioma just called me to narrate her experience with Mr Kolawole, her colleague’s husband. Mrs Kolawole (Mary) and my close chum are good friends as well as colleagues. Mary lives not quite far from Chioma’s flat at Mowe, here in Lagos (You can say, Ogun State). So their friendship didn’t end at work, it has grown to be beautiful (I don’t mind sharing Chioma, but nobody takes the place of BFF from me, Prisca!).
Mr Kolawole has always been a quiet man, you know those uncles that wouldn’t spare you a glance even when exchanging normal greetings, those uncle gwegwe that wouldn’t join in any discussion in the car when driving to work, no matter how hot the topic was? Yes! That’s Mr K4Show! I remember the day I was fortunate to have an encounter with him, I was at Chioma’s for the weekend for the normal hang-out every fortnight. She begged me to follow her so as to deliver some clothes she sowed for Mary. You see, Chioma is as industrious as I am, she sews while I sell natural products (you can visit/follow instagram.com/treasureorganics on IG or follow Treasure Organics on FB to order your Pure Coconut Oil, Pure Honey, Shea Butter, African Black soap (fortified), Grey-Amber Goats Milk Face & Body Bar @ affordable and unrivaled prices). As it was getting a bit dark and the weather was accommodating, I accompanied her. Also, I couldn’t wait to meet ‘the Mary’ who was competing with my position in Chioma’s heart.
Mary, I deduced after minutes meeting her was not as friendly as I thought her to be but that changed later. In fact, it was as if our presence at her house was an invasion. Her hubby, Mr K ushered us in with grunts as greetings. This made me wonder if Chioma actually had a friend in Mary. Anyways, Mary came out after several minutes of sitting two of us alone in the living room, with an expression that said it all. Haha! trust me now, I immediately stood up to take my leave but Chioma wouldn’t let me leave the spot. Mary changed her countenance on seeing that I had reacted, with some flimsy excuse as to why she didn’t attend to us on time. Before we left her house, she offered us some big chunks of decadent chocolate cake. Oh my! Everybody knows I can’t say no to rich chocolate and fruit cakes, so that singular act endeared her to me. Within a short while, we became very good friends.
To the real gist at hand- Mary was on leave at this particular period so she was not in the car as Mr K drove towards the Island where his wife and Chioma work. The first thing Chioma noticed was that Mr K – The Quiet, became a chatter-box from the moment she entered the car, he started off by brushing his hands against Chioma’s laps (she at first saw that as absent-minded moves) but as the ‘moves’ became more frequent, she knew something was up so she moved slightly against the door. Immediately she did that his right arm went across the back of the car seat and remained there till the end of the journey. As he was about to pull over at the Bus Stop for Chioma to alight, he mentioned the physical similarities between his wife and Chioma; making his intentions known…he wanted an extra rump in the hay!
Chioma went frigid to languid back to frigid within one second. It was as if she was in some sort of trance or vision. She respectfully rejected the offer and was about to alight when Mr K, with his arm already across the seat-back, clamped firmly Chioma’s shoulders and pulled her roughly to his side and stole a peck!!! Trust my girl, she dished him a hot delicacy of cheek-strike (if you know, you know)!
What would you have done differently? Now Chioma is at cross roads, Chioma would be anxiously following the comments as well. Should she tell Mary? Or should she act as if nothing went awry? If Yes, when is the right time to do that and how? If No, why? Even I, am at loss of words because Mary has become like the third girl in our circle. Please, get your comments rolling in the comment box…here on the blog.
